Habs - Out of the playoffs for the 5th time in 8 NHL seasons

Ok right the Habs missed the playoffs... again.
But there are positives to get out of this NHL season. Seriously.
Let's start with Guillaume Latendresse.
This kid has shown a lot of grit and skills at different times this year and has managed to score 16 goals in his first NHL season (and he is 19 years of age!) He is not the next Sidney Crosby but he could potentially become a Bill Guerin. I would love to see a Latendresse-Lapierre-Begin line but at the same time I think that Latendresse should be use in more offensive threat than that...
Now who else than Chris Higgins, Michael Ryder, Mike Komisarek or Tomas Plekanec.
Here are 4 names that ANY team in the league would want on their roster.
AND THESE GUYS ARE YOUNG!
Higgins, a LW, has almost everything you could ask for. He is already a great two-way player with tremendous hockey sense. Unfortunately, Higgins isn't the strongest forward you will see but still he fights for the puck like no one does on this Canadiens hockey team. He should start next season as our 1st line LW.
Ryder was able to get 30 goals on a team that plays a defensive style. Enough said.
Komisarek is a beast on the blueline and should get locked up for a few years this summer. Without him this season, the Habs would have finished 12th or deeper in the East.
If the season had started in December, it would have been fair to say that Plekanec was the best player overall on the Habs this year.
Maxim Lapierre
Wow. Lapierre is only 22 years old and he is already a better and bigger player than Steve Begin. Yeah he is a Begin type of player if I could say but I wouldn't be surprised to see him hit the 20 goals more than once in his career. He should start next season as our 4th line center.
Andrei Kostitsyn
Will he ever explode ? For a few games he actually made me think he might but I am still suspicious about his capabilities to play hockey in North America. All I can say is that the kid got skills, that is undeniable. He should start next season on the 3rd or 2nd line next year.
Jaroslav Halak
Boom! Talk about a surprise! Who would have thought that this goalie was able to handle the pressure as well as he did. He showed great things at the end of this year and I can see him play around 30-35 games next season, behing Cristobal Huet.

The kids kept the Habs in the running. They should stick with the youth and get rid of the old guys (Kovalev, Koivu, Bonk, etc).

Keep Koivu, but I agree Kovalev and Bonk have to go, as well as Samsonov and Aebischer. The Habs could use a couple more Komis on the blueline. I'd like to keep Souray, but I fear he may ask too much, but at least sign Markov.I'm very much looking forward to the maturation of guys like Latendresse, Plekanec, Kostitsyn, and Price (I'm sure Halak will eventually be moved to make room). The future is bright, but I hope the Habs draft a defenseman this year in the first round. f I'm not mistaken they have the Sharks' pick as well from the Rivet deal.
