Sabres slide reaches 5

The Sabres continued their slide after a torrid start in a 4-2 loss Saturday night against the NY Islanders at home. The Islanders were out shot by 11 in the game, but came out on top with a good performance to bring the Sabres to a five game losing streak.
Andy Hilbert had 2 points for the Islanders and Mark Streit played a great game on the numerous power plays for the Islanders and tallying an empty netter and an assist in the process on Jon Sim's PPG in the 2nd period. Joey Macdonald had a solid game in net against the 37 shots from the Sabres. The Islanders have been improving lately and Macdonald has shown he can be an NHL starter with his solid play recently in lieu of the injured Rick DiPietro
For the Sabres, Mark Mancari had his best game as a Sabre with his first NHL goal in the 1st period as well as a strong physical game. His play might be enough to keep him out of the city of Portland especially with the current struggles of some of the veteran players on the team. Derek Roy grabbed his 4th goal of the year in the 3rd, but the Sabres weren't able to come back in the end.
