It appears that Patrick Marleau is the new Vincent Lecavalier. With the trade rumors swirling, one has to ask... will San Jose's captain end up in La Belle Province? My answer? Yes. According to Rogers Sportsnet, Patrick Marleau and Evgeni Nabokov were asked by Sharks GM Doug Wilson to waive their No Trade Clauses, in the same report it was revealed that the both agreed. There is no question that Nabokov will not be trade to the Habs, but here are the reasons why I think Patrick Marleau will be...
Reason 1: Sharks want to dump salary
Reason 2: Habs are looking for a big 2nd line centre
Reason 3: After not re-signing Kovalev or Koivu, most Habs fans want to see this happen!!
On a recent episode of TSN's Off The Record(OTR) with Micheal Landsburg, Gorges Laraque revealed that New Habs Head Coach, Jacques Martin, had told him that he probably wouldn't crack the starting line up next season, which explains the signing of Travis Moen. But what does this have to do with Patrick Marleau? I think Laraque would be part of the deal. Here's what I think the Three way deal would look like.
To Habs: Patrick Marleau, Jody Shelly Christan Erhoff Cap Hit: 7.9 M
To San Jose: Dany Heatly, Jaroslav Halak Cap Hit: 8.1 M
To Ottawa: Tomas Plekanek, Milan Michalek, Gorges Laraque Cap Hit: 6 M
2010 Lines
Here is what I think the Habs 2010 lines will look like..

IF this were to happen I think we'd more likely see Gregory Stewart crack the lineup than Jody Shelley. Or at least that's what Martin SHOULD do. He thinks Laraque can't play hockey? Try watching Jody Shelley drag his knuckles for 2 and a half minutes a night. Now THAT'S embarrassing lol.
I actually like the trade from a Sens perspective, even if we have to take on Laraques. A second line of Michalek - Plekanec - Kovalev would be dominant
