More or Less for the Leafs

The Leafs made one signing in the Free Agent Frenzy, inking Tim Connolly to a 2 year deal. I personally believed that we had no chance in Richards and was hoping that we would get Tim Connolly and a defender. Well we didnt get a defender yet but that was a secondary focus. Is Tim Connolly going to get 50+ assists next year and 70 points? Probably not and we shouldn't expect it from him. But what he is going to do is provide a play making, defensively aware 1st line center. Which is what we all hoped Tyler Bozak would turn into last year but didnt. So we upgraded our biggest hole in the lineup for nothing but cap space (which we have a ton of), so I am quite happy with that. This also provides a nice stop gap so hopefully kadri can mature and take over the reigns as a Center at some point in time, also I have seen on many occassions that the brass believe Colborne is NHL ready but dont want him to be thrown onto the 1st line so this gives him 2 years to mature into a top 6 forward.

Letting JS Giguere go was necessary but hard. He was not a competitive goalie anymore and I doubted he would be after his surgery but the balance he provided for Reimer was an assest in itself. I dont want to give up on Gustavson like many so I was at a cross roads. I think we made a good decision and signing Scrivens was a brillant move as he will be the next Reimer. Consistent yet not flashy. He wins games by playing the angles well and taking away the net. Great student for Allaire.

Not one to hope the leafs sign Stamkos to an offer sheet. I believe he is an amazing hockey player but one thats stats are padded a bit from playing with Martin St Louis. I would rather save our picks and offer sheet Tavares next year.
