What a mess!

I appreciate having a forum to vent about the current state of the Maple Leafs.

I can't stop thinking about what a disaster we're witnessing from a once proud franchise. I can no longer watch a whole game, I basically tune in to see what pathetic hockey players our GM has assembled with the maximun salary allowed. Our career .500 and going south coach has made moves that must shake the heads of the most casual fan.

I hate to see anybody lose their job but something needs to be done and I don't have the confidence that anything will get done. Our GM has been so inept at improving his hockey team during the season. In retrospect Fergie has done absolutely zilch to improve the hockey club, it's actually regressed during his tenure and free falling even more.
Every move he's made has been awful. I will grant him that at the time some of the moves looked good such as Toskala and Bell.
The bad moves and ridiculous signings have dug a deep hole for this team.
Either the coach or GM must be fired not tomorrow but today.
Fergie should have to lose his job for trading Tuuka Rask to the Bruins for Raycough. Tuuka has already stolen more games for the bruins than Raycough has for the Leafs over an 80 game span. Jason Blake got the huge contract from Fergie and is laughing all the way to the bank. Now the team has Sergei Berezin for the next 4 years at $5 mil in a salary cap world. I would put him on long term injury until his cancer is in remission and use the salary saved elsewhere.

Pavel Kubina- I would like to know why we felt the need to sign a PP specialist when we have possibly two of the best in the game right now? I don't have a huge issue with the money he was awarded it's a little high but how can he accomplish putting up numbers that warrant a $5 mil salary when your not being used in a role condusive to earning that money.

Paul Maurice- A career .500 coach and slipping is who Fergie elects to hire to replace one of the best coaches the Leafs have ever had. This has turned out to be a fantastic move. It's taken Paul Maurice 10 games into his second season to call timeout when his team is losing it on the ice. I can't count the amount of 2 and 3 goal leads we've blown under his watch. The players have to be blamed as well but when you never have to spend a night in the press box to be sent a message that you suck the players will continue to suck.
Is Matt Stajan and the holier than now Alexander Steen really unbenchable?

Alexander Steen- Can somebody tell me why this guy is untouchable? All Swede no Finish.

Matt Stajan- Have you ever seen a guy shoot into the logo of a goaltender more than Stajan? Has nights when you think he's going to break out than dissappears for a couple of weeks.

Andrew Raycough- I think it's time to own up to the fact this was a terrible move and waive him. Nobody is going to give up a roster player for him so it's time to except that experiment as a failure and move on.

It's a sad state of affairs for Leaf Nation. I am a huge Leaf fan but I'm at the end of the line with this hockey team. From the brutal ownership to the puppet GM to the career .500 coach to the bums that wear the jersey. All are to blame and nobody held accountable.
Is it time to blow it up? Last year is the answer to that question but things remain the same. I would love to see a trade made but I wouldn't trust our current GM to make any.
A new GM must be hired immediately because the Leafs will have some huge decisions to make come January. This current Toronto team will be between 25th-30th place come January. We need a GM that will get the most for Sundin, I also believe that one of the three McCabe, Kaberle or Kubina has to be moved.
Unfortunately it's Kaberle who'll bring us the greatest return.
Next years draft is supposebly pretty deep so it would be nice to have 3 1st rnd picks. Philly did it right and I'm ready to go that route as well. I'm not going to pretend like our delusional GM or half blind coach that we're going to be contenders. Blow it up! I'd rather finish 30th than 18th.
