The Sabres rolled into New Jersey losers of 5 in a row and 12 straight on the road. Advantage Devils right?
But low and behold something we Sabres fans have all be yearning for quite sometime a big much needed W.
Leopold got things started by being Johnny on the spot to tap in Gerbe slapshot that ricochets off the glass and bounced right in the crease for an easy tap in. Devils later tied it on the PP
Things got a little jumpy in the Overtime where the Devils controlled most of the play Kovalchuk had a golden chance mono e mono but Miller stood tall and snuffed it out, along with a Parise golden chance snuffed out by good defense and kick save by Miller.
Than the shootout, Kovalchuk got things started making it look relatively easy and that was the lone marker until up came Captain and Mayor of Pominville.
Pominville snipes and that brought it to extras thus setting the stage for little big man Gerbe to complete the shootout and capture victory at the rock.
With that win the Sabres are in 2 way tie for 12th in the East, New York Islanders (13th) Montreal Canadiens (12th) and 2 points within reach of the 11th place Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Hurricanes are 15th but tied with the Sabres and the aforementioned teams ahead of the Sabres
If the Sabres can put together a nice run after the All Star Game and pull into 10th their maybe some hope of salvaging this season.
The trade deadline looms (February 27th) a lil under 5weeks away.
Do the Sabres make some big time move to help with the playoff push they will try to make after the All Star Break? or will the Sabres fail for nail and try and go for the 1st overall pick in the Entry Draft?
Honestly a part of me doesn't see the Sabres going away quietly this win marks the begging of something great and the Sabres will make move on or before the deadline to refuel The March To The Playoffs, I don't wanna believe in the "Their is Always Next Year " The time is now (Well technically after the ASG)
Have your say!
LETS GO BUFFALO!
