Some moves that would help the Oilers

Ales Hemsky 5 million cap hit (final year of contract) for Matt Martin 1 million cap hit (signed until 15/16) and a conditional second or third round pick if the Oilers make the playoffs (still up in the air if the Oilers can make it even with the new additions)

This works great for both teams. The Islanders need a second line winger and a power play set up man for Tarvares, this trade also helps the Islanders be above the cap floor. The Oilers need true grit and Matt Martin is made of it, and he has a nasty edge to him that is much needed on the Oilers. He has fought a number of guys in the east with great success (Adam McQuaid, Zack Kassian when he was with Buffalo, Wayne Simmons, Tanner Glass, Brandon Prust, Braydon Coburn, Ryan White, Hal Gill, and he knocked Tom Kostopoulos' block off) Also he can play a regular shift on the third line without being a defensive burden. Last years stats for Martin 48GP 4G 11A -2 63 PIM

Nick Schultz 3.5 million cap hit (final year of contract) and the right to rnTeemu Hartikainen or Ryan Jones 1.5 million cap hit (final year of contract) and maybe a third/forth round pick for Brian Campbell 7,142,875 cap hit (signed until 15/16) if he would wave his NTC.

This trade would give the Oilers a true number 1/2 d-man and a true blue power play quarterback and a good mentor to young J. Schultz. He also has 97 playoff games under his belt. I love Teemu but he has made the choice to go to the KHL sucks for him but hey what can ya do other then wish him luck. I thought he would be the Oilers Johan Franzen, a big power forward with a nose for the net but i guess not. In Nick Schultz Florida get a younger defensively solid d-man with great leadership for a very young Panthers team looking for direction. Campbell's stats from last year. 48GP 8G 19A -22 12PIM (6 power play goals, 11 power play assists)If these deals were to happen this is what i think the game to game line up would be

Hall/NRH/Eberle
Perron/Gags/Yak
Martin/Gordon/Jones
Smyth/Lander/Jesse Joensuu

Cambell/Schult
Ference/Petry
Belov/Smid

Mike Brown to sub in when old bones Smyth needs to rest his old bones.
Potter and Larsen to sub in when needed.

***Jesse Joensuu is very interesting to me and should be to all Oilers fans. The more I read about him and watch him on the Youtube then more i think he could be moved up to the third line, he has more offense then people give him credit for and he throws some tremendous hits all be it over in the euro leagues. He has dropped the mitts in the NHL in the past, but he a big body that could be a power forward that may well could become a Finnish Franzen

Thanks for reading, I'm a first timer so don't cuss me out to much in the comments. -Ben

That Campbell trade is horrible for the cats. A number 1 offensive D-man for a 2nd pairing Defensive D-man, a guy who ran to the KHL and a 4th round pick. Good luck with that.

Hemsky for Martin would be magic if MacT could pull it off!
