This Rumour was not mentioned on Hockeybuzz I know. But I was surfing twitter and I source that I believe to be accurate mentioned that the maple Leafs were looking to trade for Gagner. I found this interesting because I believe it could very well happen. So as I did for the Buffalo/Edmonton rumour I am going to break this down onto what I think the potential deal could look like.

So lets start on what Edmonton could offer here. Obviously Gagner is involved but there might be more than on asset on Edmonton's side of this deal. So let me break the second player into four possible targets. Eric Belanger, Lennart Petrell, Ryan Jones, and Ben Eager. Eric Belanger has been a failed experiment for the Oilers this season and would love to deal him somewhere else. The only problem with Belanger is if this terrible season scared teams away from him. So even though the Oilers would love to deal him the Leafs won't want him. Lennart Petrell is a decent LW and is due for breakout season. His size is good at 6'3" and can be a good 3rd line option for any team. i think Petrell could be involved. Ryan Jones is a good LW scoring 17 goals last season proves that. Ryan Jones is the best of the four options but because of the fact he is a fan favourite in Edmonton with his classic hair I don't the deal would go down well with Oilers fans unless the the Leafs overpay which I can't see happening. And now for the final option another 3rd line LW Ben Eager. Eager did disappoint just a little last only getting 13 points but he is still a physical player and isn't afraid to drop the gloves. If the Oilers had more tough guys like Eager I would say he would be traded but due to that the Oilers don't have other player like Eager this won't happen. So it looks like Petrell is the most likely here.

So the Oilers are offering Gagner and petrell to the Leafs

Ok now the Leafs side of the deal. My Source said it was most likely Franson or Komisarek could be dealt. I don't think the Oilers could get Franson here but I think Komisarek is completely possible. The Oilers are looking for defensemen so that fits. his size is good and would be a perfect on the Oilers. I am sure he is worth Gagner. So the first player is done but whats the second? I am going to break down 3 picks the Oilers could get because I don't think the players I thought were realistic. Ok so the three picks are: 3rd round pick, 4th round pick or a 6th round pick. I am going to start with 6th round pick. I believe the oilers would not take this no matter what, Petrell is due for a breakout season and is worth more. The 3rd round pick would be nice for the Oilers but I am not sure the Leafs would do well with this. So lets meet in the middle a 4th round pick sounds reasonable for both the Leafs and the Oilers. Gagner would be a good second line centre for the Leafs and Petrell would be a good 3rd line winger for the Leafs. Mike Komisarek would be good on D for the Oilers and the fourth round pick will help them in there Rebuild.

Final Deal: Sam Gagner and Lennart Petrell for Mike Komisarek and a 4th round pick

Would you do this trade leave your response in the comments. The players I thought were unrealistic were: Mike Brown, Jay Rosehill or Jay Mcclement was i right or wrong?

NO WAY THE OILERS ARE INTERESTED IN KOMISAREK! You are clearly delusional if you think Komi could get you Gagner alone let alone with Petrell! If the Oil are bringing back a Dman of which they already have way too many, then there would be one going the other way. Pekham or Potter.

Just like your Buffalo/Edmonton Blog, this one is just as bad...

Komisarek is a liability and Sam Gagner is a 2nd line winger with 60 point upside. What exactly makes them equal? You're overvaluing Komisarek.

Typical leafs fan overvaluing komiserek. Hes an albatross contract and doesnt get you gagner let alone a second asset. What a nob

To believe this rumour, one has to unrealistically believe that Tambelini actually covets Komi. Of the 29 GM's, I am pretty sure NONE are anxious to trade for Komi. However if u can find 1 that for whatever illogical reason actually desires to trade for Komi, please let me know. Especially a GM willingly to trade good young assets, that's the most head shaking part of the blog.

haha i wish! oilers i think could use komi as a buffer before their many d prospects start coming in but he has no real trade value. He would end up being part of the 5/6 pairing and they already have too many of those dman (sutton, potter, teubolt, maybe fedun). Leafs do not need another small center, seeing gagner isnt fitting for 1st line. Sorry, it just doesnt make any sense

gagner is worth more than franson

22 year old center who puts up 40-50 points for komi? is that a joke?

You way undervalue your players... If you were Edmontons GM you'd be canned after 1 trade...Hello Dallas, Taylor Hall for Jagr?

Maybe Toronto could throw in Tiny Tim Connolly if Edmonton sweetens the pot with RNH.

im not a huge fan of gags by any means. but the oilers certainly dont want to deal him when the main asset coming back is way overpaid mike komisarek.2nd line center with 60 pt upside for another 3rd pairing guy?no thanks

I would talk to the Islanders for Visnovski..he doesn't want to play for them. How about Gagner for Visnovski...
September 5, 2012 9:24 AM ET | Delete
Vishnovski? Been there and done that. If I remember correctly Vishnovski wanted to leave Edm, so I do not see him willing to return. As to the trade blog.....Komi plus late round pick for Gags and a bottom 6 beef player? No thx. Think higher up the pick selection and higher up the Defensive food chain.

This trade IS realistic because of these two facts: 1) Nobody wants Komisarek(especially at his price). 2) Nobody wants Sam Gagner, especially not the Leafs who arlready have tons of tiny forwards with no two-way abilities. Of course as a Leafs fan I would jump on this deal just to move out the salary. Gagner can join the likes of Connolly, Lombardi and the rest as players with some talent but don't fit into a top scoring role, defensive role or a checking role.

This is the worst made up source trade blog I've ever read. Gagner would be a good 2nd line C!? Why would they replace Grabovski with a lower scoring, worse defensive player with much less heart and hustle in his game? And why would the Oil want Komisarek?
