The Calgary Flames are getting some great potential down in the system in the AHL. Ryan Culkin is one of them as he scored his very first professional goal on Saturday in Glens Falls in the Glens Falls Civic Center. For those who don’t know the formerly known Abbotsford Heat are now the Adirondack Flames. Coach Huska (Adirondack Flames coach) commented about how great these rookies are too the team and especially in the league. “Ryan has so much great potential and even some of the older players like Yonkman (Nolan Yonkman) who has had quite the experience in the league is still getting better with the rookies and teaching the fundamentals of the sport of hockey.” It’s amazing how the AHL has become such a learning curve for younger players like eighteen, nineteen and even up to at least twenty-one years of age. For example Johnathon Toews and Patrick Kane spent 2 seasons down with Rockford, (Chicago Blackhawks farm club) and Johnathon is 25 years of age and is already such an elite player already in the league. Some other great potential rookies that the Flames have brought into their club his Swedish Hockey League has he improved in such a short amount of time. I mean last Saturday David had one assist and two goals with a total three points in that game against Glens Falls former tenant The Lehigh Valley Phantoms. As he was a plus 5 has that has changed as The Flames were shut out by the Comets who are Vancouver’s farm club as of 2012. The Adirondack Flames also are led by Bryce Van Brant as well who in seven games as two points. The Adirondack Flames and Calgary have some huge and great potential down the line, and may be a good contender this season in the AHL playoffs.
