Leafs Poem

Oh to be a leafs fan.
I cannot deny it I am a Leafs fan through and through
So are all six of my brothers, actually my 4 sisters too
I was part of Leafs Nation coming out of the womb
And You can bet I’ll be wearing my blue and white in my tomb
Just once before I go there I have to see
Lord Stanley’s grail lifted once at the ACC
I know I’m not alone in my wishes for the boys In blue
Millions spread across north America is absolutely true
Sports Illustrated calls us the worst in each and every sport
Having the most rabid fan base of all is my simple retort
The most important part of any pro team
Are the ones in the seats who pay to scream
Without us there’s no passion, purpose but especially money
Look at South Florida the future ain’t so sunny
Being the center of the hockey universe has its own set of pitfalls
Like an arrogant ex -coach in Ron Wilson who still has the balls
To flap his gums about us fans from the unemployment line
When we are the ones that allow him to drink his $300 glass of wine
Media vultures using any excuse for a chance to swoop
Poking and prodding hoping for a reaction to have a scoop
Millionaire suits always seeming a little tardy
Entertaining at the hot stove for their own private party
Put some of the rowdy’s from outside to keep the seat warm
If it was the Oscars that practice would be the norm
Oh such a deal made of not giving us a salute
Keep on winning and the whole point is moot
As fans no denying some of us do truly suck
Single them out and to the teeth with a puck
These schmucks losing some chicklets would be fun
See the next goofball throwing a jersey how quick he is to run
As a fan let me be the first to say I’m sorry
It’s all about how bad we want some lost glory
The good and the bad come with the most loyal fans anywhere
A group that is impatient and critical all because its level of care
The last thing that I need to say
Please bring us some hockey in May.
