Jensen to Toronto ?

Hey Guys,

Trade deadline day is right around the corner and its been one exciting week leading up. As we get closer I keep hearing more and more about the Canucks pushing for Kadri. Apparently these talks have been ongoing for awhile now, and I'm being told by a reliable source that former Vancouver 1st round pick Nicklas Jensen's name has been mentioned as well. The 6'2'', 202lb 21 year old winger hasn't been much of an impact player for the Canucks this past few seasons.

Nicklas Jensen Career stats:
Year Team GP G A PTS +/-
2012-13 Van 2 0 0 0 -1
2013-14 Van 17 3 3 6 -1
2014-15 Van 5 0 0 0 -1
Totals 24 3 3 6 -3

In 24 games over three seasons, Jensen's numbers don't really pop out at you. But don't let these miniscule stats fool you. The big Dane is a playmaking winger, has a high hockey IQ, nifty hands, and the ability to score goals. Jensen also doesn't shy away from playing the corners and up against the boards, something Toronto has lacked for many seasons and so desperately needs. Now I'm not saying Jensen is going to completely turn the boat around, but I believe he is a step in the right direction for the Maple Leafs.

Nazem is set to become a RFA this upcoming off season, and there has been no contract talks between Nonis and Kadri's agent. Sources say he's asking for 5mil - 5.5mil per season. At 24 years old, Kadri has already proven what he's capable of. He's quick, skates hard, and knows how to put the puck in the net. He's been a solid second line center for the Leafs but unfortunately with his lack of play in the defensive zone and inability to move the puck, I cant see him representing the blue and white next fall.

Both teams have some cap flexibility and with the Clarkson trade still lingering in the air, Leaf land has proven anything is possible

Potential trade:

To Vancouver:
Nazem Kadri

To Toronto:
Nicklas Jensen
2nd round pick
Conditional pick

Jensen still has a lot to prove and isn't quite NHL ready just yet. That's why I feel Toronto will get a possible 2nd round pick and a conditional pick.

Well that's all for now, folks

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my blog, your opinions, and comments are much appreciated.

UPDATE: HockeyBuzz won't allow me to post my reply in the message box, It's just coming up blank. Ayways here it is:

Thanks for the feedback guys, Kadri is set to become a RFA this coming off season and he's asking for 5mil - 5.5mil, a pretty hefty price tag considering the guy doesn't show up to play half the time. Also in my opinion, Kadri doesn't seem like the type of player you'd want in your dressing room. If you have a moment, watch some of his past interviews. The guy talks like he's the best thing to happen to the Leafs organization since the Gary Roberts / Mats Sundin days. He's a self centered, one way player, with sloppy defensive zone presence and struggles moving the puck. Jensen is also a under rated player who hasn't been given the opportunity to showcase his talent, unlike Kadri who has made it very clear he is a one dimensional player

leafs would be better to trade Kadri and phaneuf for RNH and a mid to late round pick or a mid level prospect
