Oh the fun part when your team is eliminated. The blame game. The leafs is no different, and everyone will love to blame Babcock. Babcock this and Babcock that but the real question is how much is really on Babcock. This is a personal opinion from what I saw.

First, we will start with Babcock. As I havr already stated before, he does come with obvious flaws, but the more I think about he is not the reason we lost. Giving Mattjews more ice time probably would not have given us the win as we need to tie in the 2nd period. Should Matthews have gotten more ice time with the game on the line, 100% resounding yes. So yes Babcock has flaws, but that is not why we lost. Dubas is right the leafs played loads bettr this past series, they did what every good playoff team preaches change, adapt and be ready for a quick, heavier, attrition based season. They did that. Babcock did is main job to motivate the group to play playoff hockey. At the same time, there is blame to go on coaching. Our penalty killing lost us the series. Some of that is places on coaching. Babcock needs to hold himself accountable and his assistants. That could mean a change in assistants as this needs to be addressed.

Next up is the good ol' Nazem Kadri. I like how he plays with his emotion on his sleeve but I eill also admit this once again hurt us come playoffs. While we survived in part thanks to decent center play by Nylander. Kadri's dumb move hurt us on the penalty kill, he severely weakened an already weak spot on our team, that no one was able to replicate long term for us.

William Nylander, the guy who has now become public enemy numero uno yet is in a love and hate relationship with fans. He brought this upon himself by holding out for a measly 1 million a year. He must have known he was never going to get 8 million. This put him behind the 8 ball all year and now he will always be subject to trade rumours and I could care less if he is kept or traded. That being said, he did decent as third line center in the playoffs but paying 7 million for a 3rd line center is not worth it so he needs to be a top line winger if kept.

There is more to be said, but I want to keep this fairly short.

Will try to talk about others in another blog.
