With the signing of former LA Kings defencemen Aaron Miller on Monday, the Canucks are creating quite the rumor buzz around the league. With an NHL ready defensive core of 8 dmen, the canucks look to be unloading a defencemen to pick up some much needed scoring. Although some of the rumors out there are absolutely absurd, like one heard on the TEAM 1040 in Vancouver this afternoon stating:
to Florida for:
come on now is that reasonable?
However, others seem to be more realistic, like the Canucks aquiring the likes of Patrick Elias or Brian Gionta to help bolster a quiet offense. It will be interesting to see what goes on in the next few weeks, if not the next few days, to see what Blockbuster Dave Nonis pulls out of his hat.
Also, lets not forget about Peter Forsberg. There has been some speculation that he could sign a 1 year deal for about a million dollars plus insentives.
Lets say its true and the Canucks sign Forsberg and trade Ohlund and Morrison for Elias. Our forward lines could look like this:
Naslund Forsberg Elias
Sedin Sedin Pyatt
Cooke Kesler Linden(if resigned)
Ritchie Burrows Cowan
and on defence:
If that were to happen, that could put the Canucks over the top and a realistic Stanley Cup contender.. what do you think?
