fan hatred

Posted 8:54 AM ET | Comments 7
Ok so here is what i dont get. You come on these sites (so far this is the best one i have found for not having the problem) and you find fans hating on other fans. prime example leafs and sens fans. I am a leafs fan thru and thru but in no way do i hate sens fans. I am not a huge fan of the team but in no way can i say they suck. At the same time the leafs did not make it to the playoffs but they far from sucked either. I know its a rivalry but is there a need to call the other teams fans names just because they show some passion for there team and believe in them. for intance i read on a blog how a sens fan hoped that the sens would trade emery for labarbara and cammelarri. i made a little jab about them trading corvo for crosby and malkin while they were at it but it was in jet only and then politly pointed out how that was a lopsided deal that L.a. would not go for. but yesterday there was a rumor of Kubina for marleau and the canadians fans and sens fans were saying some pretty harsh things about the fans that were blogging on the story posted and it does not stop here there it goes for every story i read..so im asking why is it that we have to be so uncivil for loving our own team towards other fans of other teams

There are some people out there that love to talk poo and go overboard with it. Some people simply can't debate without getting angry and throwing mud. I for one, (and it seems many on this site feel the same) like to hear what another teams fan feels about their team, my team, and any other team (as long as they're being rational). I look at everything NHL through orange and black glasses. Everybody suffers from Homerism to some degree and I like to hear what people who wear other colored glasses think because they are approaching it from a different angle, probably know something about their team that I don't, and can sometimes give a different perspective on my own team. That being said there are some people that just aren't worth listening to but they're easy to spot. Whatever the case I never really understood why someone would even bother making personal attacks on a forum. Whats the point?

I just wanted to say I don't find anything wrong with ribbing or poking a little fun at another fans team. Its part of the fun. Some just take it to far and can make a thread become unbearable to read.

i agree with you all but im talking about the people that seem to come here and try and fill the post with garbage and really arnt rational! ill make a gest about another team but some of the things that these people say...one person said that toronto is an embarassment to CANADA.. and we arnt talking the maple leafs they were talking the city the people it was plain crude!

Both Skypage and Jeph are right. Ribbing and talking smack is one thing (I'm a Nashville fan, that should tell the tale!), but people go way way too far. What really disgusts me is the anti-Nashville sentiment of people, its one thing (though disrespectful and a lil misguided, but understandably so) to claim Nashville isn't a hockey town, but to totally trash the city and the fans as a redneck haven of toothless idiots is just vile - and common!

i donno hockey doesnt seem to be poplular in nashville but i do agree about the fans saying stuff about the city and the people! im sure none of the people that say that crap have ever even been to nashville! im sure its a beautiful city as it has great culture in the country music scene those who do that are in my opinion probably immature 12-20 year olds that still live at home and have not grown up yet! so not all of us canadians feel that way about your city!!
