Tlusty, our saviour!

Jiri Tlusty, the young prospect drafted 13th overall in the 2006 draft by the Leafs was a burst of energy the Leafs sorely needed. Tlusty recieved a call from JFJ moments after the leafs fell 5-4 to Atlanta. Tlusty had this to say after the second period, "I was nervous before the game, but after the first period my nerves calmed down. After the second period, I felt real good". Tlusty scored both of his goals only 35 seconds apart.

This was Tlusty first game in the NHL. After the phone call JFJ made he could not go back to sleep. The excitment must have gotten to him as he scored the game-winning goal. The Leafs defeated the Pens easily winning 5-2.

Tlusty had 4 points in 6 games in the AHL before being called up (3-1). As I am sure the Leafs will continue using Tlusty for Saturday's game against the highly talented offence of the New York Rangers. Look for Tlusty to continue his scoring touch as he brings speed and energy onto the ice.

Both teams are coming off victories as the Rangers defeat the Devils 2-0. Both goals coming from Nigel Dawes, another rookie. Dawes has 3 goals in 12 games with the Rangers. Saturday night's game should be an entertaining one as both rookies (Tlusty, Dawes) are red hot and having scored 2 goals in their last games, it could get ugly for the goalies.

Its fantastic for him that he did so well in his first game. I hope last nights game is a small sign of some better play to come for the Leafs.
