Hello everyone, I hope you are enjoying summer, your favorite team's draft picks and the most recent news in the wonderful world of hockey. Enough talk, let's go down into serious business...

Five days. This is the time remaining before the first of July, the starting moment of free agency signings. Personally, I think that this is the most exciting time of the hockey year. This is like a big surprise box, you just can't totally expect what's going to come out of it...RFA's offer sheets, trades, unexpected signings and much more.

For the Montreal Canadiens, this summer is totally different then the past ones. If you just look at last year, none of the best free agents wanted to play for the Habs, but it changed because of this year's great season, the Canadiens aren't in this situation anymore. Impact players are willing to play here (even if the taxes are high), because the Habs dramatically improved their chances to win the cup.
BUT, the next five days might be very short for our friend Bob, who still needs to finalizes a lot of stuff.

Here's a list of the important things that Bob needs to accomplish before the first of July (It is in order of importance):

[#1;Sign Andrei Kostitsyn to a multi-year deal]
The Canadien's young offensive gifted player, who had a breakout season this year needs to sign a new contract before the first of July. He notched 26 goals this season and added 27 assists. Kostitsyn and his linemates (Plekanec and Kovalev) were really the offensive core for the Habs...No one can argue with that. This is why Bob needs to sign him soon, because another GM can do what Mr.Lowe did last year with Dustin Penner.
My expectations: 3.75 millions for 3 years (total of 11.25 millions)

[#2;Keep pushing forward to convince Mats Sundin to be a Habs]
It looks like Mats is going to decide wether or not he plays next year, after the first of July. Even thought, Bob need to keep telling him that he is THE PLAYER that the Canadiens needs to have a shot at the cup. Sundin would impove a lot Montreal's offense, making the Canadiens and the Penguins the teams to beat in the East, next year...
My expectations: I think that Mats Sundin won't sign with the Canadiens...but I am still believing.

[#3;Start talking with Streit's agent]
Mr.Gainey needs give a call to Pat Brisson(Streit's agent), to know what the Swiss player expects for his new contract. Sure thing that it's going to be more then the 600k that he was earning this season. Expect his salary to be quintupled, sextupled or even septupled!! Bob is waiting the ''Sundin affair'' to be done before doing a contract proposal, RDS said. Streit was important at the point on the PP this season. In 81 games, he scored 13 times and added 49 assists.
My expectations: Like everyone...If Sundin signs, Streit is gone. If Sundin doesn't, expect Streit to be back next year. Possible contract, 3.25 millions for 2 years (total 6.50 millions).

So, this is pretty much about it. Our friend Bob has a lot of work to do, but i'm sure he is going to do well, I trust him. He is doing everything in his power to give the fans a memorable moment for the Canadien's centennial. The next few days might suprise many people...
