there hasn't been a flames blog in awhile beside the vancouver blogger. So i decided to take a chance and voice my opinion on the change Calgary should do.
Its time to do something in calgary because it has not work for the past five seasons. Calgary has two big asset in captain Jarome Iginla and goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff.
Kipper would be easier to trade because there could as many as 7 potential teams that may need a new goalie or an upgrade. Teams like Tampa and Toronto have asset that calgary could use in speeding up the rebuild. Calgary could get a decent prospect and a first for kipper. The one thing that could hold up the trade is management and the other goaltenders like Luongo, Vokoun, Thomas, and others.
Jarome would be great on many teams like Boston or Pittsburgh. There is not many superstar in free agency beside Parise or in trade market beside of Nash. So iggy would probably be the third most wanted forward available. Calgary should get a top prospect, a first round pick and a contract around 4 million so any team can take his 7 million. One thing that may make him harder to trade is that cba thing and his one year left on his contract. Jarome might have to accept a contract extension to make a trade viable.
If Calgary can resign Jokinen, bring up Baertschi, sign a backup for Irving and play the rookies not in the bottom six. Their offence will be decent if they keep Cammelleri and Tanguay. Their defence is decent with Giordano leading the way along with Smith, Brodie and Boumeester.
Calgary does not need to do the Edmonton way of rebuilding. We could do what Philly did and trade your major players and start over. In my buzz report i will list kipper potential trade partners and who calgary could get.
