trade

i don't know who the sharks would trade to get kaberle. didn't he reject a trade a couple of years ago at the deadline to be trade to sj with his ntc? it seems like trading for kaberle would be a waste if he doesn't stay more than 1 year. he seems to not want to go west, and it's not like he is a young guy anyway.

trade scenario of setoguchi, a prospect and a pick for him? setoguchi and another player? i would think kaberle is not worth what burke is going to get for him in the end, (he knows what he is doing).

i would rather see the sharks go after staal, but i don't see that happening. he's younger, at 23, meaning they could keep him much longer than kaberle. but, in order to get staal they would also have to get rid of some contracts (i'm guessing he wants around 4 million), a good player (setoguchi) and prospects/picks (which the sharks don't really have). i guess bieksa or another canuck dman is available too, but i think the asking price for them is going to be too much. i just don't see the sharks getting a top 4 def in a trade without trading away too much. but then again, dw seems to make it work somehow. the hjalmersson offer sheet would have solved this problem without getting rid of a significant player. giving up the late 1st and 3rd rounders would have been worth the price for a young top 4 dman. i wish all this would end and have the season start.

I believe that you are referring to Pavel Kubina refusing the trade deadline move to SJ when Sundin, Tucker, Kaberle et al banded together with their NTC's to try and make a run at the playoffs, which they almost made if it wasn't for NYI beating NJ the last game of the season to squeeze TO out. I cant see Kabs going west unless the western team is desperate (CAP) and blows burke away with an offer he can't refuse, considering Kabs preference for the East and only 1 year remaining on his contract.

i know kubina said no to trade a couple years ago. i also thought that kaberle said no later as well, but i could be wrong. everyone is saying bruke really wants clowe, but i don't think its worth it for having kaberle for 1 yr.

so, i looked into it. kaberle said no to i believe the flyers. but he has stated that he wants to play in the east more than once.

Yes, it was rumoured for Carter and a 1st, that would have been a steal for the Leafs.......I'll bet the Flyers are glad they took a "flyer" on that one.....
