Random Notes for all the junior buffs out there...

London traded up only to pass on Mikhail Grigorenko and instead pick up Finnish defender Olli Maatta 1st overall. Hey, if the Knights are doing it – it must be right.

Grigorenko drafted 2nd overall to the Quebec Remparts. This is a great primer for the young Russian leading into his draft year. CAN’T WAIT to see this guy in 70+ games of action!

Two 2013 draft eligible players taken in the top 20; Russian Forward Sergey Kuptsov to Mississauga, and Swedish RW Nick Sorensen has the chance to join Grigorenko with the Remparts.

Erie traded with Plymouth to pick up C Sondre Olden. Together with fellow Leafs 2010 3rd rounder, Greg McKegg, give Toronto fans a reason to pay attention to a nearby Junior squad. 6 picks later the Otters also picked up 2012 draft eligible Vladimir Tkachev, to reinforce what could be a lethal offence this coming season.

Red Deer Rebels found a replacement for WHL Player of Year Darcy Kuemper, selecting Czech netminder Patrik Bartosak 59th overall. Hope he can secure the backend while Nugent-Hopkins does his dirty work on opposing goalies in the Dub.

Halifax Mooseheads passed on their only pick, (71st overall), and must be banking on youngsters Frk and McKinnon to lead the way.

Also of note, Tyler Biggs is the ONLY 2011 1st still committed to the NCAA. As a ’93 birthday he will have one more year of eligibility for the Oshawa Generals should he choose to do so in the 2012/13 season.
