A couple quick hits for Lightning fans to think about:

- Dana Tyrell, who was recently brought up from the AHL in a welcomed move by fans, has been resigned to a new 1 way (meaning he stays in the NHL, not the AHL) deal with the club for 2 years. Financial terms aren't available yet.

- The Leafs were scouting the Lightning last game, and so rumors are swirling. Anything is possible, but the most likely scenario is fairly obvious since the Leafs have depth at D, and the Lightning need help in that area (although there are other teams that have similar needs as well, and the Leafs could pull off a deal with one of those teams instead). You would have to assume it is Franson or Gunnarson possibly coming to Tampa, and the question is what Tampa would send back in return.

- Speaking of the Leafs, remember Bryan McCabe? He is still sitting out waiting for a contract. Not that he is what he used to be, but my feeling was that he has never fully deserved the ridicule he got, and it may be worth Yzerman's time to kick tires there and see if he will sign for very little to stay in Florida (played for the Panthers/Rangers last season, and rumor has it he wants to stay on the east coast), and play for a team that has a chance. I will stress though, that I think it is only something for Yzerman to look into, and not a sure thing. If he can't work something else out, and can sign him for next to nothing (nowhere close to the 4.15M he got last year, and 5.75M cap hit). He doesn't exactly fill the needs of the Lightning perfectly, but you just have to compare him to someone like Brett Clark to see if he could help the team.

- I mentioned before that we can look to see Malone improve with a few games under his belt, and it's good to see him notch a goal against Florida, who the Lightning trail by only 4 points for the division lead, and are as surprising for being a good team in the Lightning's division, as the Capitals are for being bad.

- Downie and Ohlund are still out for the matchup against Minnesota, a surprising team in the west this year, who had only 1 loss in the last 6 before losing their last game to Calgary. They will be looking to get back to their winning ways, I'm sure.

- Stamkos is heating up, and sits 2 goals behind Phil Kessel for the lead in the scoring race.

- Finally, congrats to the man with the yellow stick: Marty St. Louis. The guy is everything you want in a hockey player, and scored his 300th goal of his career against the Florida Panthers.
