As a loyal Ducks fan, I must say that I was truly impressed with the game that Anaheim brought against Detroit last night. The passing was great, the skating was beautiful, and the Ducks made a point of sending an early message to the Wings with a sweet short-handed goal in the first few minutes of the 1st period.
Shout out to Kent Huskins: Beautiful move on Lidstrom my man!! Wonder is he's found his jock strap yet? A friend told me that that move was more like "#4" not "#40"!!
And a loud shout out to the fans in attendance. Honda Center FINALLY sounded like a hockey arena!!! When the entire crowd began chanting "Hasek! Hasek! Hasek!", it was the loudest I've ever heard!! The electricity in the air was truly spine-tingling! It was also wonderful to hear how loud the crowd got in the 3rd period, when due to some very questionable calls by the ref, the Wings climbed back to tie the game. The crowd began screaming "Let's Go Ducks" soon after the 3rd Red Wings goal, and they didn't stop until the end of the game! If anything, the crowd got louder when Pahlsson got the go-ahead goal and got progressively louder as the end of the game approached. And forget about hearing ANYTHING in the final 1 minute.........you could speak out loud to yourself and couldn't hear it.
The post game celebrating was great to see as well. For once, not a soul left the arena! Well, except maybe some VERY disappointed Detroit fans!
All in all, a great place to have been for sure. Since I was not able to be in attendance in '03 (I listened on the radio), I just soaked up all the energy and had a blast!!! Can't wait til the Finals start!!!
Had a great time at JT Schmidt's across from Honda Center after the game as well. Two full tables of us all pounding the tables yelling "We want the Cup! We want the Cup!!). A wonderful time was had by all.
In closing I'd just like to congratulate the Red Wings on a very well-played series. Thanks to Detroit for giving us a very entertaining and exciting set of games. I'm sure that there are going to be some really intense games between the Ducks & Wings next season!!
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DUCKS!!!
