If the Leafs trade up in the draft, I would love to see them pick up Sam Bennett.

The biggest problem Toronto faces as a team is character, I see this guy as a young Toews / Gilmour type with his attitude.

Now trading up, what will it cost the Maple Leafs? If it cost us Kadri, our 8th round pick and the likes of a Peter Grandberg - Should the Maple Leafs do it? I doubt this would be enough.

Truth is, with all the new GM's in the league, salary cap increase and NYR's berth to the Stanley everyone is blowing their brains out because they think they may be able to squeak out a Stanley Cup final.

I believe the Maple leafs best scenarios include flipping Kadri / Phaneuf (obviously additional pieces) for the 1st round pick - depending on who you move will depend on who you draft. Ekblad is a younger version of Phaneuf and Bennett is a more solid centre man with more leadership potential than Kadri.

Just my two cents, but I believe Toronto needs to do something at this draft. To stand pat would be a big mistake with so many teams having so many moving parts and players available.

Nonis prefers looking into space all stoic like over making trades and properly managing his roster.
