Dear Mr. Katz,

I would like to thank you and the Edmonton Oilers for an emotionally uplifting experience tonight. Your teams effort and enthusiasm are truly inspirational. I love watching them skate around wistfully, not caring about scoring or playing defense, wins or losses...etc. There is absolutely nothing wrong with your team. Your Head Coach is a genius, and I never get tired of that vacant look on his face as he stares at the score clock, obviously wondering why it's there, since points and wins don't really matter. Your GM is by far the best in the league, I mean just ask him. His only competition when it comes to wit and hockey smarts would be your president, the noble and magnificent Kevin Lowe. Oh how lucky the Oiler fans and citizens of Edmonton are, that this member of hockey royalty chooses to grace us with his presence. I will honestly never tire of his waxing philosophically about the dynasty years, and how today's troubles don't matter, because he has so many Stanley Cup rings. I hope I speak for all the fans when I say thank-you Kevin! We are all content to continually celebrate the successes this team enjoyed 25 years ago, and feel no reason to compare our Oilers to teams like Chicago or Los Angeles or Pittsburgh or Detroit. It must be exhausting for fans of those teams, I mean with all that planning of trips to the stadium during playoffs, organizing Stanley Cup celebrations and all that cleaning up after the victory parades. Good grief, why would one bother to invest themselves emotionally, or support financially, a team that is so focused on winning? I for one couldn't be bothered. I find it much more enjoyable to throw my support behind an organization that couldn't care less about success, or its fans for that matter. I mean, I don't have to tell you or your players, that the playoffs coincide with some prime golfing weather. Why play your heart out in a chilly arena in May, when you can bask in the sunshine at the links? With the other 16 teams playing hockey, that's 350 or so less people competing for a tee time. One can only hope, Mr. Katz, that as you lay down to sleep, on your giant stacks of money tonight, you can rest easy knowing that there is nothing systemically wrong with your team, and that no changes need to be made. The Oiler faithful will continue to put up with our pathetic little club for eternity. Sweet Dreams!

Yours Truly,

Reverse Psychology
