Avs Win

Game 1 of the 2018/2019 NHL season for the Avalanche ended in a 4-1 win over the rival Minnesota Wild. The new NHL is all about speed and we saw that last night from the Avs. All 4 lines played a fast uptempo game, won puck battles and outshot the Wild 40-21. Everything wasn't all great though, the last 2 min of 2nd and most of 3rd the Avs were having trouble gaining pressure in the offensive zone and the Avs were clinging to a 2-1 lead until late in the 3rd when they capitalized on the empty net twice to seal the Win. Varly definitely stood on his head in the 3rd with the wild having some quality chances in close. Newcomers Ian Cole and Matt Calvert both had strong debuts both playing quality minutes and killing PP's. Its going to be a tough season with the Central Division being so good its critical to get those wins against division opponents. The Chemistry with all 4 lines looked great and the 2nd PP line moved the puck really well with Girard running things on the back end just couldn't capitalize against Dubnyk who played really well and the score could have gotten out of hand if it wasn't for his performance, he faced 32 shots before the 3rd period. Next up The Flyers and Gritty on Sat after they had a pretty good start against Vegas. This will be a good challenge for the Avs and hopefully the keep up to their fast pace tempo. Thanks for reading I am very new to this so I hope you enjoy and please leave comments good or bad.rnrnrnrnrnrn
