It’s 7-14-11, and to Buffalo Sabres Fans, that can only mean one thing –

It is FRENCH CONNECTION day.

The numbers 7, 14, and 11 hang grouped together in the rafters of HSBC arena in tribute to three hockey players who were arguably one of the greatest line combinations in NHL history.

With the late Richard Martin (#7) at left wing (Rest in Peace, Rico), Rene Robert (#14) at right wing and Gilbert Perreault (#11) centering, the French Connection accumulated the following combined stats while wearing the blue and gold:

1,116 goals
1,457 assists
2,573 points

There will only be one more French Connection Day in our lifetimes (that will be 7/11/14 which properly puts Gilbert Perreault in the Center position) – so savor the day and remember a great trio of players!
