Team Alberta Oil-Flames

Lets call a spade a spade and let it be known that neither Edmonton or Calgary have a competitive enough hockey club to put a dent in the NHL standings. They are even total opposites as to the blueprint of the team. Lets get these owners in a room and combine forces to make a legitimate team that comes from Alberta that we can both be proud of.
Dont get your panties in a bunch. This is totally hypothetical! I love my Oilers and Calgarians love their Flames but wouldn't it be interesting to see how a mash-up of these two teams would compete over one season. Edmonton will add the high end skill, while Calgary will add the toughness, grittiness, and defence that wins games in this league.
Im choosing players based on 1 season, so I am not naming prospects to this team. Just the best players available right now for this one really pretend season.

Remember this team is based on one season and one season only. So picking players based on potential was thrown out the window.
Gagner has lost his game and seems confused as to what his role is. Yakupov's confidence is at an all time low and there are safer more experienced picks. Hemsky is the newest face on Band-aid brand boxes. Monohan is a stellar rookie but too many options combining teams. Backlund got beat out by Stajan. Finally, Petry has fallen down the rabbit hole.
Is this team perfect? No. But considering having 6 of those regular NHL defence men would make the world of difference. There are actually capable defencemen that can get the puck up to line 1 and that would be scary.
I love the 3rd line and would be a treat to watch as they would hustle their ****** off and chip in with offence.
Line 2 has what it takes to keep possession of the puck and player in their own zone.

Have to have Russell, Monahan and Ramo on the team. Ditch Smid, Breezer, and someone else.
