DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE

The Kings are off to their best start in Kings history.

Okay. It took 6 games for Kempe and the previously scratched Mike Cammalleri to finally sniff the smelling salts and get on the score sheet. About time since its been all Kopitar and Brown who have 8 goals and 7 assists combined. So does anyone else find it weird that their 1st line mate Alex Iafallo has only ONE ASSIST. Thems are Dwight King, Devon Setogucci numbers.

Jeff Carter hadn’t even scored a goal and now he’s going to be out a while with what looks likes like a pretty bad achilles injury (when do the playoffs start again?)

Only ONE of the Kings five wins was against a team with a winning record .

Their next three games are against opponents with a combined 14-3-2 record and they’re allowing about 10 more shots per game than last season. Toronto and their speed should light them up like a rastafarian joint.

Their power play has kept them alive and once that disappears like Harvey Weinstein’s career, the L’s will begin piling up. Nic Dowd is flopping like a mud fish in John Stevens system and Jonny Brodzinski left his confidence on a beach in El Segundo and was promptly shipped down the 10 to Ontario. (It probably took him 3 hours to get there, too. God I hate the 10 freeway!)

The D hasn’t been bad with newcomers Folin, Fantenberg and MacDermid (doesn’t that sound like a Hollywood law firm?) but they’ll soon be exposed and Jonathan Quick can’t be all of the Avengers at once.

So enjoy it while it lasts folks. The Kings will be battling down to the last day to make the playoffs.

Has anyone told the Oilers the season has to be played on the ice and not on their Xbox?

Vegas is 5-1. With 75 games left, it’s likely they could go 25-45-5 when teams stop thinking of them as a team full of scrubs.

Will Dave Tippet be coaching the Rangers soon?

The Toronto Maple Leafs have scored 34 goals and Mitch Marner is already a -7…
which is better than Oliver Ekman-Larson who’s getting burned more than a… nope, not going there.

Remember when everyone said Mark Pysyk was awful? He still is.

A Dodgers/Yankees World Series would be so cool, and so retro 80’s

Sean Avery's book is so bad ass. Review coming

2real, were you even born the last time the Flyers won the cup? Kings: 2 cups. And you're still here, too. Sad.

Hey Matt don't go all 1975 on the flyers, the west coast affiliate won in 2012 and 2014.

I don't think you are giving the Kings enough credit. They aren't as talented as they have been in the past, but they play a hard style and it will help them. They lack offensive depth, but they still have the likes of Doughty and Muzzin on the back end. Up front, Pearson and Toffoli will need to be good all season if the team wants to succeed. You are focusing too much on the depth players instead of the teams core. They have a hand full of guys who have been Kings for a long time. If the new guys can buy into the style and chip in offensively, they will have a decent season. Will they win the West? Of course not, but I think they are better than the likes of Vancouver, Colorado, and Arizona who will undoubtedly be at the bottom of the division. I could see them finish right in the middle of the West. it may not be a great season, but the West isn't exactly as good as it once was. Outside of the Alberta teams, most of the West is riddled with old rosters who are looking to get back on track.

I understand and respect the jaded nature of this, honestly. but..... Iafallo is not as bad as his numbers would suggest. It's only a matter of time before the score sheet reflects it. Brodz simply did not elevate his game and I support the decision to send him down. I think Dowd should be centering the second line or Kempe. Kempe is on a see-saw with his game and the ebbs and flows are usually period to period with him. He has got to stay out of the box man, or alice in chains is going to have give up the rights to that song and it will have to be played in every arena every time he is whistled and has to do the skate of shame. Remember Matt, these wins may be an anomaly but they are wins we have needed at the start of every other season, so even if we hit those clock work like slumps, at least we wont have to say at the end of the season "if we just would have eeked out a win or 2 in the first 10 games"

So Ek, what about that fat slob, Cloutier? Would you welcome him back with open arms and a bucket of KFC?
