ESPN is reporting that the Devils are placing Patrick Elias on the trading block. It is going to be extremely difficult to move the player due to his monstrous contract and the no movement clause attached to it. Sources as of now indicate that the club has not yet asked the player to waive his NMC, so he would still have to approve a possible trade. The most likely trade partner I am hearing is the Atlanta Thrashers IF Elias agrees to waive his clause. Travis Zajac is more likely to be traded due to his higher trade value and the team’s need to move a player before getting Kovalchuk locked up.
