Interesting rumor surfaced lastnight via twitter. The Devils might be in on Niemi but no confirmation on either. Now this would be really interesting...Again just a rumor...

What would the Devils do with Niemi? They have Hedberg backing up Marty.
Niemi would be a better option than Hedberg. He could be Marty's heir apparent.
well marty would definately get more time off and hedberg is useless in a sense they paid him a small amount for 1 yr, send him to trenton
Thats what I'm thinking...I wouldn't be surprised if the Devils do sign Neimi...But again he does come with a 2.5 mill contract so that would mean more salary dumps by the devils to fit him in...
well if they dump hedberg to trenton thats another 1.5 open so they really only need to get rid of salvador and zubrus and they have their cap space for niemi and kovy

This will never happen, some of these rumours are ridiculous. Niemi only wants to be a starter and at 2.75 million, plus Hedberg at 1.5 and we have over 10 million tied up in goaltenders. Not going to happen especially while cap space is required to get Kovalchuk officially done.
