All around the I see passionate Devil fans being called "Cry Babies"...Really well lets get one thing straight, were not crying here were just frustated with theis entire process...we are trying to sign one of the top scores in the NHL while trying to make moves to fit his new contract. Also we have to worry about our star player Zach next year....So I don't think the outcry from Devil fans this summer means their being "Cry Babies"...Everyone says we have a weak fanbase...Well we might have a small market against the Islanders, Rangers and Flyers..but I think their is no doubt that Devil fans have proven to be passionate about their team.
With that said....
Then NHL should look at themselves first before they try to draw a line in the sand. I mean lets look at this in a logical way....
When the CBA agreement was signed by both parties....so you're try to tell me that not one lawyer from the NHL saw this "BIG LOOPHOLE" wow who represents the NHL" BADA BING LEGAL" The NHL made the mistake here...not the Devils....If I were the NHL i'd fire their entire league staff. THe Devils exploited a leagal loop hole and im sorry to say again whos to blame? The NHL....They are not trying to draw a line in the sand but just trying to regain power back before the next round of CBA negatiations.
absolutely agree, being a law graduate of harvard myself, if the NHL couldnt see flaws in the CBA with multi-million dollar lawyers then its their problem. many teams have thrown out lucrative contracts, just because the devils and kovalchuks stands out from the rest does not make them the bad guys, and getting angry over the fact that its been over a month and its still an ongoing issue does not make anyone a crybaby it makes them fans that are tired
Somebody call the wambulance. Less people care than believe that you graduated from Harvard Law. I love reading all the Devils fans crying. Really made my summer.
Sorry, but you should be made a Devils' mgmt for not coming up with a legitimate contract, not the NHL. The NHL has language in the CBA to protect themselves from this type of contract. The arbitrator ruled in their favor, so it's not really a loophole is it?
Some of the people who questioned DiPietro's contract are the ones that see no problem with the Kovalchuk situation.
You are totally off base. The CBA does address this and has a provision that prohibits contracts from circumventing the cap. Could they have defined this more clearly, yes. But there is absolutely no question that the Devils are trying to circumvent the cap.
I don't have a problem with the NHL rejecting the deal or suggesting changes. It's their threatening of contracts that have already been approved. Dangling that over everyone for how long? No, you make you decision and say yes or no and deal with the consequences. It's threats and bullying and I don't like it. Deal with the matter at hand and think about the future next time.
@flyler i agree with you completely, luongos contract was registered last yr and a player of his caliber does not need to go thru wat kovy has with the league. but apparently they did they that had rights to look into the contract with no time limit so who knows what theyre gunna do, its their league they can apparently threaten and change rules as they like
@TheRolling... the dipietro contract is fine, he gets paid the same amount every year. and @Suckmys... you are a fucking idiot, it is us, as a fan base, im talking fans of the general NHL, who are gonna suffer from the NHL being a whole bunch of ass fucks. so you laugh now, but we will all suffer now, and bettman will be the one shitting on your grave.
