Well let the Nabokov saga continue! After coming back from the KHL and appearing to sign with the Detroit Red Wings all was fine, until he went on re-entry waviers and was claimed by one of the NHL's worst teams the New York Islanders. In the eyes of the Islanders they thought they could finally put their goaltending troubles to rest and have a solid number one in Nabokov. This was not the case after Nabokov and his agent found out about the claiming he decided not to report to the team and sat at home. Nabokov's reasoning for this was because he wanted to contend for a cup and not rebuild. With this the Islanders had many options they could suspend Nabokov without pay which they did, they could've placed him back on waviers, trade him or eventually go to the board and get them to holdout his contract, which means Nabokov would not become a free agent and he would be with the team next season. Personally, I think this is a big joke and Nabokov should stop being childish play this season and become a free agent in the off-season. In my eyes you have not heard the last about this issue and it will continue till both parties are happy.

I have to agree if Nabby was to finish this season he would be in a good position next season. He can showcase himeself and keep his game Sharp with a team that will surely test his skills.I am a HUGE Nabby fan but I am a bit let down by this situation and how he is handeling it.

He did the same thing when he held out for a contract with the Sharks a while ago

Maybe Nabby has zero confidence in his ability to stop pucks from entering the net unless he has an All-World defense in front of him.

He knew the rules when he decided to come back to the NHL.Just play out your contract and go from there.I do hope that the Isles make their point and don't carry this over to the summer and "toll" the contract.Make your point then move on.

Nabby hasnt played or skated since November. He was underwhelming in the KHL. Now he wants to win a Stanley Cup. Let him rot. Either play by the rules or die by the rules. His choice. No one else.

How can the NHL even cater to someone like him? I know both sides are dissapointed, but Nabokov should grow up and just play the game he says he loves, hes makin the money he signed for anyways.

I think the rule is the unjust one. I don't blame him for being ticked. He's proven he's an elite NHL netminder in the regular season and has taken his share of grief being blamed for San jose's Post season woes, (how's that defense doing now? 4th in their division? yeah) So he gets picked by a team that has no shot at the playoffs this year... when's Forsburg hitting Waivers? Oh he's not. funny.
