I've been fighting off frequent fits of boredom this afternoon, which will quickly be remedied when I depart for Reelfoot Lake in west Tennessee. I've never been there, but they say it's beautiful.
Here's some of the latest signings and players you can expect to see in camps:
Thrashers: Tobias Enström (D, SWE), Ondrej Pavelec (G, CZE- from QMJHL)
Coyotes: Martin Hanzal (F, CZE- from WHL)
Avalanche: Jaroslav Hlinka (F, CZE)
Kings: Erik Ersberg (G, SWE)
Lightning: Riku Helenius (G, FIN)
Blackhawks: Petri Kontiola (F, FIN), Niklas Hjalmarsson (D, SWE- will stay in Sweden)
Capitals: Sami Lepistö (D, FIN), Michal Neuvirth (G, CZE- from OHL)
Looking at some of these guys, Lepistö probably has the best shot at a roster- he's had a pair of 25-point seasons (this past year he played only 26 games due to injury, but still posted 10 points) in the SM-Liiga, which plays a 56-game season. I suspect he could have a great deal of success with the Capitals, a team that really didn't seem to do much offensively from the blue line.
