What is going on here? Wade Belak, the happiest man on this planet, committed suicide. I know exactly what Wade's family is going through right now and what they're thinking. "Is it my fault?", "Why wasn't he happy enough?", "How could he do this to us?". My thoughts, prayers and condolences are with the Belak family in their time of need.
Okay, lets talk predictions. Today is Part 4 out of 5. I know I promised this segment on Wednesday, but I thought I'd give Part 3 a little bit longer on the home page because there is a very little amount of comments. So if you haven't checked it out yet, click to my profile and read the previous three parts!
2011-2012 Eastern Conference Quarter-Finals
1)Pittsburgh Penguins...........................4 Wins
8)Buffalo Sabres....................................2 Wins
X factor - Although Buffalo completely re-vamped their team this off season with HORRID contracts, I'm not buying. They'll be in a dog fight for 8th seed with New Jersey and they'll lose to the 2009 Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins in 6 games, with or without Sidney Crosby.
2)Washington Capitals.........................4 Wins
7)Montreal Canadiens..........................3 Wins
X factor - Look. I'm an extremely modest Habs fan. I can see the Habs putting up a big fight here, maybe even taking the seventh game to OT, but they will lose to Tomas Vokoun and the Washington Capitals.
3)Boston Bruins...................................4 Wins
6)Philadelphia Flyers............................2 Wins
X factor - I do like what the Flyers did this summer by adding the best NHL ready prospect in Brayden Schenn. But, Ilya Bryzgalov has a tendency to not perform in the Play Offs. Bruins in 6.
4)Tampa Bay Lightning........................3 Wins
5)New York Rangers............................4 Wins
X factor - I think Henrik Lundqvist will have a huge 2011-2012 season. He will be the Ranger's MVP and I think he can stop Steve Stamkos and Marty St. Louis on Tampa's lethal Power Play. Rangers in 7.
2011-2012 Eastern Conference Semi-Finals
1)Pittsburgh Penguins.........................4 Wins
5)New York Rangers............................1 Win
X factor - Although New York will have superb goaltending by The King, The Penguins are too stacked with talent. M.A Fleury could be the deciding factor in this series too. Expect the Penguins to take this series in just 5 games to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.
2)Washington Capitals.......................4 Wins
3)Boston Bruins..................................2 Wins
X factor - We will have a new Stanley Cup Champion! While the Bruins boast Tim Thomas, The Capitals counter with Tomas Vokoun AND Alexander Ovechkin, who can taste The Stanley Cup. Expect the Cup hungry Capitals over the Bruins in 6 games to set up the Eastern Conference Final the NHL has been lusting for since 2005.
2011-2012 Eastern Conference Final
1)Pittsburgh Penguins....................4 Wins
2)Washington Capitals...................3 Wins
X factor - Things could be different if Sidney Crosby doesn't return by the Play Offs, but since these are my predictions, I'm gonna go ahead and say he's ready for the start of the NHL season. This will be truly an epic back and forth series, dominated by offence. I could easily see Ovechkin scoring 10 goals in this series. But, I can see Malkin taking over after a tongue lashing from Byslma. It was a tough decision, but ultimitely it was the goaltending battle that helped me decide. Just take a look for yourselves: Fleury's Play Off record ( 41-28 ) vs Vokoun's ( 3-8 ). Pittsburgh in 7.
So! The Stanley Cup Final is set! The winner will be revealed during the next and final blog of this series, Part 5. I will also reveal my predictions for all of the NHL Awards. So stay tuned as that part of the series will be coming some time after this weekend *probably Monday, Tuesday at the latest*

LOL at flyers at 6th and Sabres at 8th..battling for 8th with New Jersey? Give me a break.
Thanks for the read :)
;)
Hvae fun with Erhoff for 10 years.
Well at least you had your team lose in the first round. WASH takes the East IMHO but Philly wins against BOS. Bry had one bad PO performance and it was last year when he was, according to internet reports (sketchy), distracted from the potential sale of the Coyotes. His career PO numbers are actually just fine. I like our odds against BOS.
Great read. Caps will make it to the 3rd round fur sure this year. Hamrlik and Vokoun are huge additions.
Where was all this Hate for Ehrhoff when he was a Canuck?
Also, last year Montreal
Erhoff is a decent player, but no where close to being worth 40 M
I didnt realize division was so difficult. The only number that matters is the cap hit. What's 10 / 4 =?
I actually laughed when he said the caps would win the stanley cup
LOL... stop drinking the Kool Aid
Penns at 1, Ranger at 5th, Flyers at 6th, Sabres at 8th... I have serious problems with all these. Sabres and Rangers the most. NY is NOT that good and Buffalo is NOT that bad.
You have 7 out of the 8 teams that I picked for the east. The 1, Philadelphia which I thought would be a toss up spot with the Islanders. I think Pit with a healthy Crosby will rule the East. Dont get me wrong Im by no means a Crosby fan. I think you Tb will win the Southeast though. Im not sold on Washingtons Vokoun and Hamerlik is getting a little long in the tooth. I got Buffalo coming in at 2nd in the East. Good read though!
Buffalo will be higher than eighth an Montreal will not make playoffs
