From a contact close to the team:
I got a juicy one for ya......
A respected player [that won't be named] said that there is no way that the Preds are interested in resigning Hartnell, because, for one, everybody in the locker room couldn't stand him.....
Well, folks, looks like there was more in common between Walker and Hartnell than their first names.
So now Timonen is not expected to return, Kariya isn't, Hartnell isn't, and Forsberg is expected to retire;
however, Timonen and Kariya may be back, now that it's been made public that Balsillie is committed to winning a Cup in Nashville. It all depends on their salary demands, and I think Kariya's demands will be failry reasonable. Plus he was the team's first real superstar. Timonen is still a bit of a stretch, but if the cap goes over $50M, he'll be back.
?????!!!!hartnell wasn't a popular locker room guy?....nashville needs more guys like him no more softies
Sounds to me like it's these new, older guys that have come in in the last several years that is stirring the pot. Methinks Arnott, Sullivan and Kariya have a little too much say in the room. Especially Sully.
That's why they are here.
I had heard the same thing about Hartnell...this does not shock me but I was still hopeful that he would be back. He is one of those special players that is going to have a nice career in this league. Too bad it will be with someone else!
I mentioned in Paul McCann's post that Poile said maybe a couple of players don't come back because they failed to use their heads enough. If Hartsy isn't one of them I don't know who is. It should make you unpopular in the locker room taking bonehead penalties in the most important games of the year.
