Does anyone else hate Philadelphia right about now? To point out the obvious, the Lightning simply have not been the same ever since the Flyers pulled their little stunt and the Lightning somehow took the blame. 9 out of the 12 games since that game, have resulted in Tampa losses. Keeping it PG: Yikes.
But as much as I'd like to blame the Flyers for everything, there has to be more to it than that. The problem is, admitting it is tough: This team simply isn't as good as the expectations are high. After last years run, and being one game away from the Stanley Cup final, this team had a lot of people believing. Yzerman looked like a genius by quickly turning the team around, bringing Boucher in, and making key trades for Brewer and Roloson. How quickly we seem to forget though, that this WAS a turn around, and the team seemed to have a long way to go at this time last year. I guess thats what a long playoff run does to you. The fact is, changes like that don't happen over night, and the team still lacks depth in most areas. This team has improvements they need to make, and I still believe that we have the right man in Yzerman to get the job done. I also think the future is bright in Tampa, but they just aren't there right now. Best case scenario: Roloson turns his season around or a trade is made for a legit #1 goalie and this team does enough to turn the season around and make the playoffs. Worst case scenario: The team continues the way it is, Yzerman dumps players at the deadline, drafts a good players in this years deep draft, and hopefully signs a free agent in the offseason (please be Suter) to really set the Bolts up for a strong year next season. We'll have to wait to see which way things are going to go and if we should complain more about the teams play, or the new conference alignment in the NHL.
All you need is a #1 goalie. Grab Bernier, Schnieder, or Lindback before it is too late.
I cant seem to leave a comment here.
