Where the Capitals go from here

After a busy off-season last summer, the Washington Capitals have had a relatively quiet summer in 2012. With the strong possibility of losing Alexander Semin to free agency, many fans were expecting GM George McPhee to make a big more or two and sign some high-profile free agents to address glaring needs. I'm sure Jack Hillen and Joey Crabb are good guys, but they are certainly not what Caps fans envisioned as the premier signings this summer by the Caps. Here is a look at who the Caps have acquired so far this off-season:
Jordan Hendry, D. One year at $600K
Jack Hillen, D. One year at $650K
Joey Crabb, RW. One year at $900K
Re-signed Mathieu Perreault, C; Jay Beagle, C.
Acquired Mike Ribeiro, C for Cody Eakin and a 2nd round pick.
Acquired future draft picks for Dennis Wideman and Tomas Vokoun in separate deals.
With all that said, here is how the Caps roster looks now:

Questions that remain:
-Will the Caps sign a scoring winger to play on the second line? Teemu Selanne, Shane Doan, Andrei Kostitsyn, Kyle Wellwood, and even Alex Semin are still available.
-Are the Caps content with their defense? Jeff Schultz and John Erskines were questionable last year. Also, Matt Gilroy, Michal Roszival, Jaroslav Spacek, Carlo Colaiacovo, Pavel Kubina, and Steve Eminger are still available in the free agent market.
