Should Avs trade for Franson?

As per Darren Dreger, RFA Cody Franson of the Maple Leafs is asking for more money than Toronto can pay, considering their cap situation. Having just above 6 million with Nazem Kadri and Mark Fraser also needing to re-sign, both RFAs, and would then need one more player to have 23 on the roster.
Dreger reported the Leafs would be looking for a pick and a prospect for Franson.
Would Barrie and a 2nd be enough?
Both are right-handed shooters, both offensive minded, Avalanche would gain size and toughness, but lose speed and mobility. The Avs second pairing could then be Wilson - Franson, two defenseman who like to hit and could make it hell for opposition trying to get anywhere near Varlamov. Franson could also be utilized on the PP where he saw a lot of success last year, partnered with Phaneuf.
I have to admit I'm a little biased on Franson as he greatly helped my pool this past season after picking him up mid-season. He hits every chance he has (2.75 Hit/Game last season) and was the blueliner with the most points for the Leafs last season with 4 G and 25 A and another 6 points in 7 playoff games, including a 2 goal performance in Toronto's collapsed Game 7 against Boston.
Franson is a great offensive defenseman who hits a lot, and has the frame to become a decent shut down guy should his skating improve in his own zone.
What do you guys think, should the Avs target Franson? What would be the cost to get him out of Toronto?

This trade would not work at all. Toronto has way too many defense that are NHL ready and a lot of defense prospects it makes absolutely no sense to trade a better defensemen away for a guy with half the upside of franson and considering we do not need any defense unless they are top 3 d-man especially since we have an abundance of depth d-men
How about taking liles back?
Blacker, Percy, Holzer, Rielly. Last thing we need is to give up one our few good top 4 defence for another prospect and a 2nd. It is a decent return but it makes no sense for the Leafs.

Id say Trade Stastny and a 2nd to Toronto for Franson I love Stastny but he needs a change of city and that could spark him up again and it will give the Leafs a first line center and give us the 2nd Dman on the power play and pair him with Wilson and they make a killer 1st or 2nd D pairing. Avs have Dutchy, Factor and now Mackinnon. Giving us a killer 1,2,3 punch down the middle.
ByTheBeard I dont think you understand that the problem is that toronto does not have cap room not that they dont want Franson. That would be a horrible move on torontos part if that happened
The only way Stastny goes to TO is if Avvs retain a bunch of cap space, Stastny 2nd for Liles and Franson and Avvs retain some of Stastnys contract

Barrie or Elliott and a 2nd for Franson, and that would free up cap space for Toronto. They could also Trade Stastny for Pheunuf straight up in this deal, as their cap hit is basically the same. Avs would address there defensive problems, Toronto would address there Center position and cap space problems.
elliott? since when does toronto need another second rate goaltender, especially since we have garett sparks as our down the road goaltender aside from what we already have at the NHL level. Dont just say something that you think matches up value say something that makes sense
