The Great MacT

First this great comment from a winning coach. My Favorite quote of the year.

Ok with that out of the way, lets talk about the Great MacT. I read something the other day where a blogger was comparing and contemplating, which move made by MacT this year was his best. I of course had a great laugh over it because, it is after all such a low standard, but thought this really need to be looked at further. So let look at the Great MacT and the great things he and his management group did this year.
So there was that great trade that brought in two top 4 man from cash scrapped teams and help vault their team into the top of the eastern conference. No, that was Garth Snow.
How about trading a player who had fallen out of favor in his dressing room, for a nice package including picks and a top pair NHL Dman. Sorry that was the Jets.
How about trading said top Dman who needed a change of scenery, receiving a decent power forward and Dman in return , all the while keeping the hopes of drafting McDavid alive because the the power forward is out for the year. Nope that would be Buffalo.
How about brining in a whole new management team, new GM, new coach and putting you team back into the play-off hunt after falling off last year. Again sorry that would be Trevor Linden and the Vancouver management team.
OK. Then it must have been the ability to fill all the roster spots, with NHL player, creating competition for the spots due to smart signings and roster management as well as creating an attitude through out the organization that loosing is not executable. Yeh that definitely was not the Oiler but it was close. That was what the Flamers did.
If I needed to list one thing good that MacT did, it would have to be the over paying (dollars or term) for Pouliot and Fayne. They are not bad contracts but they are more then other teams were willing to pay and the reality is it that the move shouldn't be garnering any praise because all it did was plug two holes in the line-up with NHL players. Good job MacT for doing your job.
Other somewhat good moves made by MacT this year...
- Firing Eakins months after the rest of the NHL know he had to go.
- Trading for Roy half way through the season to finally fill the void left by trading Gagner and give and actual NHL option to the second line center position. It is even funnier that they had to trade for Roy, even though the could have gotten for free, off waivers, because they have MacT has managed the Oilers personal so bad, that they didn't have enough spare contract spot to pick him up.
- Sending the big German kid back to Junior months after the rest of the NHL know he had to go and after the World Juniors because there is no way that would would have been good for him.
So to sum up, there were some really nice Hockey trade made this year and some good player were moved around. The Oilers, despite having numerous holes in the roster, were in on none of them. All the moves MacT and Co. did this past year were all reactionary for not doing a good/proper job in the first place. No praise should be given to MacT. If I was an Edmonton fan I would be calling for his head and ceasing to support the team until changes are made.

I directed the Oilers fans heere as a reminder that their Women shouldnt drink booze while pregnant, evidenced by the fetal alchahol syndrome that wrote this stupid piece of dog shit blog .
