Hi kids – ‘member me?
I’ll be filling in until Ek finds someone younger, smarter, and not as fat as me. But until then, try not to vomit while reading this blog.
Many of you know I’ve never been a fan of Rob Blake. That’s putting it mildly. I think he’s as big a fraud as Bernie Madoff. I’m going to find it very interesting when Drew Doughty asks for 11 million a season and Blake claims the Kings can’t afford to spend 25% of their payroll on one player… which is exactly what Blake did to the Kings before he was traded to Colorado.
Doughty wants to win cups. So instead of Blake upgrading their top line winger (Dwight King and Trevor Lewis spent time there last season, and you want to know why Kopitar had such a lousy season?), he signs 35 year old Mike Cammalleri, who was hated the first time he was here and not one King fan batted an eyelash when he was dealt to Calgary. I guess it’s better than Lombardi’s Devon Setogucci experiment.
Cammy has already been demoted to the 3rd line and a rookie, who never played in the minors started the season on the 1st line. I like this kid, Iafallo.
The defense stared this season with three rookies and although Jon Quick is back to the Jon Quick of old, they played a Flyers team coming off a back-to-back and a Sharks team without a healthy Joe Thornton or Patrick Marleau.
Don’t kid yourselves Kings fans. L.A. will be fighting for the last wild card spot.
For quite some time now, I’ve been hearing about how great Andy Androff and Michael Mersch were going to be. I still don’t understand how Andreoff has a job and Mersch was recently waived.
Which brings me to Adrian Kempe.
He’s about as impressive as Donald Trump’s hair stylist. Not only did he have 4 penalties in one pre season game and a breakaway that resulted in a shot that was uglier than an Anthony Weiner selfie, he was firmly planted on the bench for the final 12 minutes on opening night.

Michael Matheson signed an 8 year deal today. I didn’t even know who Michael Matheson was.

The Maple Leafs are going to win a Stanley Cup soon. Hey, if the Kings can do it, the Leafs can too!
Travelling Jagr’s. That’s just too weird, even for me. Can you imagine what their spouses think? Or do you think they even HAVE spouses?
If you’re a parent of an NHL player, and your son scores a goal, don’t cry. You look silly.
I’m happy “Curb Your Enthusiasm” is back.
So I’m in Palm Springs and I’m watching SNL. At midnight the local affiliate here runs an infomercial for Christmas lights. I understand why people go nuts, I really do. How much do smashed hotel room TV sets cost? Charlie Sheen? Charlie? Help me out here?
Thoughts and prayers to the friends and family of Christiana Duarte who worked for the Kings and was killed in Vegas. My heart goes out to all of the victims.

Heya Matt!!! Whew, I am glad we got a sub for now, I could easily see hockey buzz going without a blogger for the season because, well, everyone hates LA... I don't see Cammellari being much of a help, but he can't be worse than, Setoguchi, right? maybe they brought him in because when Gabo returns, even if he pots a few goals, Gabs will look like a better keep than Cammy? who knows.I think Kempe and Brodz both are not showing up much and just not playing like this is their dream, their big opportunity to shine (cue 8 mile soundtrack), 2 other surprising turd layers were LaDue and Gravel, glad they were sent down. I do like Iafallo and Brown isn't completely crapping the bed so we got that going for us.Power play is still a WIP, Hopefully Stevens, with his cinder block personality will be willing to try some other looks as the season goes on. I get that a lot of people hate Blake, I feel it is slightly unwarranted, but you can't tell people what to think, unless you're Donald Trump, then you absolutely can. Any way, I think he is doing OK so far.Doughty, in his case, and I have been saying this through the off season, keep him for the next year and a half, see how the team goes as far as being a contender and somewhere he wants to resign. if we are good and he wants to stay, fine throw money at him, you got the last 6 months or so to see if he is close to signing. If he is balking and they are far apart or if we still suck and he wants to go, then we trade his arse and get some team to over pay for him and take one of our boat anchor contracts!! win/win situation in my book

Nobody thinks L.A. is going to win the West. We are all well aware that 7th or 8th in the West would be a realistic goal.
