Sabres Versus/NBC Schedule and team signs D-man!!

Another sign that the 2007/2008 National Hockey League season is getting close is that the National TV schedules are starting to come out. The Buffalo Sabres have 7 games on versus which is 2nd most in the league behind Detroit.

Tampa Bay Lightning-1/29
Philadelphia Flyers-2/25
Philadelphia Flyers-3/4
NY Rangers-3/10

It is also rumored that if the "Ice Bowl" is to take place on New Years day that it will also be on NBC.
The Sabres sign more youth:
The Sabres have come to terms on a 3 year entry level contract with OHL standout Defenseman Mike Weber. The 6'2 205 lb 19 year old physical D-man finished his 4 year OHL career with 13 goals 57 assists and 70 pts. Also accumulating 534 Penalty minutes.

I like that the sabres appear to be drafting and now signing young d, but it doesn't help us any this yearAs for the schedules, no real surprises there.what does surprise me is that when the variable pricing was released, Ottawa games are all silver level, while some Montreal games are gold. The battle for the top of the NE has been Buf-Ott two years running now. You'd think Quinn would try to take advantage of that.
A lot of it has to do with opposing teams fans. Montreal is almost always a gold game because they often bring a lot of fans with them. Ottawa doesn't have as big a traveling corps. It really doesn't have much to do with who competes for the division.
I think I said this before to someone else...I like knowing about the youth....Great Blog!!

Philly has no national momentum carrying into the season. Sabres have Tons from teh departures as well as the team play itself. Once Philly is able to establish that they don't suck and they are fun to watch, you'll get more TV Time.
I am sure that D signing will make all the differnce for the slugs. He will add heart and grit, Listen to linsey's message and correct the MAJOR defects of this squad. Way to go sluggalo Ryno -- 1 bad season doesnt qualify as a trend, like a certain teams 2 good seasons, (Choked in the POs I might add) doesnt qualify as a trend as well. Dollar to Donuts the Flyers perform much better than the slugs this year. The owner is already crying poor (wont spend to the cap), us small market teams cant compete -- WAAAAAAAAAAAA get bent -- you give the few decent sluggalo fans a bad name

Knocking other teams proves nothing. I will defend the Sabres no matter what. Facts are the sabres were followed more and sold more merchandise than the Flyers and the NHL is a business looking to get good ratings. We did not choke 2 years ago we made a run that was not expected (opposite of choking) we did fall apart last year though in the PO. Philly finished last and needs to reprove themselves in the NEW NHL.

As much as i'd love to see Calgary make another run, I think an L.A. /New York final would finally make the networks televise NHL in it's glory. The fact it's on VS. is disappointing.

You got crushed in the ECF cause 1) your D is severly lacking, or 2) the team tuned out little linsey. Own the Flyers -- I dont think so -- Seems that when it REALLY mattered the Flyers owned the Sabres -- sipped from the CUP yet, EVER, I didnt think so

The Flyers have not held the cup since 74-75. We were in the Eastern Conferance Finals with you watching becasue the Flyers were playing golf. The last time the Flyers were in the Playoffs the Sabres owned them in 5 games. Speaking of Sabres D ask Umberger how he felt after Campbell crushed him in Game 1.
