RIP Tim Russert (1950-2008)

As most of you know by now, Buffalo's own Tim Russert passed away Friday afternoon from what is being described as a "sudden cardiac death". The 58 year old South Buffalo born was best known for his 17 year stint as host of NBC's "Meet the Press" while serving as NBC News Washington Bureau chief. Sabres to wear White at home

Since the 2002-2003 National Hockey League season, no team has worn white at home on a full-time basis. Though this will not be permanent, Sabres managing partner Larry Quinn announced that the Buffalo Sabres will wear their road white jersies for 4 home games in November against Northeast division opponents...

As some of you may or may not know, long time color commentator Jim Lorentz retired from the Buffalo Sabres last week after 26 years as a broadcaster and 10 years as a player with Boston, St. Louis, The New York Rangers and Buffalo Sabres leaving an opening for the seat next to legendary play by play man Rick Jeanneret who has been calling games for the Sabres since the 71-72 season.

Another sign that the 2007/2008 National Hockey League season is getting close is that the National TV schedules are starting to come out. The Buffalo Sabres have 7 games on versus which is 2nd most in the league behind Detroit.
