Yeah, yeah, I know this is being a homer, but the consistently HUGE number of comments made on practically every post by Garth is impressive. Nice showing by Philly and Pitt fans as wel, not only on their boards, but the Buffalo boards too. I think it says a lot about the passion each city's fans have for their team, and hockey in general. I know there are some other great hockey towns as well, and it's great to see people discuss this great game. You can't deny the excitement and atmosphere surrounding most Sabres games. Let's look for a strong finish here and some playoff hockey!
There's nothing like playoff hockey in Buffalo! Brian Campbell mentioned he will miss that the most about Buffalo. I Was there for May Day, Dave Hannan vs Devils in the 4th OT, John Tucker's 4 goals vs Bruins and more recently Stuuuuu Barnes vs Penguins, 8-0 vs Flyers and Briere vs Flyers in double OT Been going to Sabre games since '75 and its about a 3 hour drive from my home in small town Ontario! Enjoyed every minute of every game!!!
Sabretooth58: Wow! Nice effort on the drive to the games. I can't say I've been to any other hockey arenas, aside from MSG (which has a unique atmosphere, pretty good for hockey, though I think it often doesn't show well on tv) but anyway, playoff games in Buffalo are insane! I was at Game 6 in the 2006 ECF series vs. Carolina, and I've never been in a louder building. I hope other cities get to experience a similar thrill during their playoff games. I have to imagine Edmonton and Calgary are just as good. San Jose seems to get loud. I love this time of year. Even if Buffalo misses the playoffs, I'm looking forward to all the games. Gotta love that we get CBC here in Buffalo; best broadcasters in the game (Rick and Harry do a great job here too).
yes I totally agree, playoff hockey in buffalo is extremely exciting. What other city can say that thousands of their fans will stand OUTSIDE the arena and watch the games during playoff times. I went to game 1 of the flyers series two years ago when briere scored in overtime, the place went absolutely nuts! its probably the loudest i have ever heard a crowd cheer. So yes, we need to make the playoffs this year to make some magic around the city!
I've been to MSG, ACC, Montreal( the old Fourm), Hartford, Joe Louis, Tampa Bay and Ottawa. Not all playoff games though. Nothing in person compares to the Aud and now HSBC. Sabre fans as a rule stay behind their team till the final buzzer(like tonight vs T.B.)
Thanks for reading guys and/or girls. Solid 3rd period effort tonight for the W! Exciting game, but I don't want to see anymore periods like the 2nd.http://50in39.blogspot.com/
