Looking at what Danny Briere has done during these playoffs, should we forget about his non-contract worthy regular season?
Briere still had points to make a good season but not the season Philly signed him for. Here are his stats this year and last:
GP G A P +/- PIM PP SH GW Shots %
2006-2007 Sabres 81 32 63 95 17 89 9 0 6 234 13.7
2007-2008 Flyers 79 31 41 72 -22 68 14 0 3 182 17.0
06-07 Career year but this was the time he weas supposed to step outside of Drury's shadow. But Danny was booed and scratched their way into the playoffs as number six and Drury finished two points ahead of Danny's Flyers. Briere was not worth 6.5 million. However, look at him now that the season is over. It looks like two Sabres could lead a Flyers team into Montreal and actually do something. Briere has nine points (5g, 4a) in 5 games. Is that worth 6.5 million by itself if they win a cup? Can we forget about his regular season? Does it fulfill his next eight years even if we boo him?
