The Place Won't Be Rocking Until Saturday Night...

So the National Hockey League has released the schedule for this year's Stanley Cup Final:

Now although there are 3 Saturday Night games, (CBC has to be jumping for joy!), I don't see a reason why we have to wait 5 whole days for this freakin series to start! I know the main reason is to accomodate NBC's Prime Time Schedule, but come on, in the NHL's recent deal renewal with NBC, why couldn't they put a clause in where the NHL has the right to schedule Game 1 of the Finals when they want, like 2 or 3 days after the last game of the Conference Finals Round?
I know for NBC, shows like Law and Order or even Most Outrageous Moments will get 10x the ratings than the NHL will ever get, but maybe it is time for the NHL to say goodbye to NBC, and go crawling back to ESPN, with advertising and air-time devotion on SportsCenter, they're sure to get just as many people if not much more watching the Stanley Cup Finals in the United States.
Maybe it is just me, but that would be the best scenario for the NHL and it's fans in the United States. Of course here in Canada, the only thing we have to worry about, is not where to find the channel in which the Stanley Cup Finals are on, (anyone with a TV can get CBC for free!), it is scheduling Canadian teams to play in the Afternoon during the Playoffs on NBC.
I feel lucky for that. And for the next 5 days in waiting for the Finals, atleast we have the Memorial Cup to watch!

This sucks. Saturday?! Thanks NBC. Ditch NBC, and don't even mention tWWL to me please. Just give me TSN and CBC here in the states, preferably in HD. Problem solved. No one here is watching hockey anyway. Why not just let those of us who care tune in to TSN and/or CBC and piggyback on the broadcast of a country who cares about hockey. Let the rest of the herd watch NFL OTA's, poker, and women's softball on those other stations.

Sat-M-W-Sat-M-W-Sat? Game 7 on June 7th? This is a disgrace. The Stanley Cup won't be on national TV until game 3? WFT?! Does anyone really think hockey is relevant when the finals of the sport isn't on national TV for 2 games? Maybe MLB could televise games 1 and 2 of the World Series on Versus too.
