Team 1260 in Edmonton is reporting that the Flyers have reached an agreement with Right Winger Joffrey Lupul. The deal is rumor to be a four-year extension and Sportnet is reporting that it will be about 4.25 million per year. Lupul finished last season with 46 points in just 56 games. He was on pace for well over 30 goals before an unfortunate collision with teammate Derian Hatcher followed by a series of ankle problems. If all goes well for Lupul this year, don't be surprised to see him pot 35 goals and over 70 points. Lupul has the potential to be a 40 goalscorer by the time this contract is up and those will cost you about 6 million or more on today's market. This is some smart forward thinking by GM Paul Holmgren. He will lock Lupul in before his big break next year. Lupul is happy here and as long as he keeps his play up, why shouldn't he stay?
