Juniors Offense Denied
Montreal. Saturday, December 6, 2008. The Montreal Juniors squandered a great opportunity to gain ground on their divisional opponents Saturday afternoon in front of their home crowd, suffering a shutout to a surging Gatineau Olympiques team, 3-0.
Gatineau, who have now won 8 of their last 11 games, controlled the tempo of the game, containing the Juniors various snipers while managing to capitalize on the few chances they had, needing only 5 shots to score 3 goals.
Juniors netminder Jake Allen, normally a rock in goal for Montreal, had an off-night, allowing 2 goals on only 4 shots in the first period. Hugo Laporte and Alex Quesnel put the Olympiques ahead while Jean-Philip Chabot added the insurance early into the 2nd period. Olympiques netminder Maxime Clermont made 26 saves for the win, preventing the Juniors offense from finding the back of the net all game. The Juniors went 0-5 on the power play.
Montreal will look to regroup right away as they hit the road to face the Cataractes in Shawinigan tomorrow afternoon at 4pm. For more information or to purchase season tickets visit
