Juniors Get Revenge at Home Over Shawinigan

<b>Montreal Hands League’s Best 4-1 Loss</b>



<b>Montreal. Wednesday, December 10, 2008.</b> The Montreal Juniors enjoyed some revenge at the expense of the Shawinigan Cataractes Wednesday night, beating the best team in the QMJHL by a score of 4-1. Winning the second of home and home games with Shawinigan, Montreal continued their strong play at home in front of a strong crowd at the Verdun Auditorium.

Angelo Esposito, who is getting ready to make a strong case for himself at the Canadian World Junior camp in the next few days, scored the game winning goal and netted 2 assists, bringing his point totals to 15 goals and 12 assists in 21 games. TJ Brennan had 2 assists and was a +3 for Montreal while Benjamin Rubin had a goal and an assist. Chris Thorne scored his 1st goal of the season and Alex Wall added an empty netter.

Cedric Lalonde McNicoll scored the only goal for Shawinigan, his 24th of the year, prolonging his current point per game streak to 21 games with 38 points. McNicoll leads the Q in scoring with 55 points in 30 games. The leading scorer for the Juniors is Nick Layton who has 37 points in 31 games and is tied for 11th overall.

Jake Allen, who was in nets in Shawinigan on Sunday for the loss, played a tremendous game, rebounding with 26 saves for his 14th win of the year. Cataractes netminder Timo Peilmeier made 26 saves while allowing 4 goals in the loss.

The Juniors have a day off to practice and prepare for their next game, at home at the Verdun Auditoriuim on Friday against the Val D’Or Foreurs.
