Howdy from Ottawa...transit drivers vote today...obviously they are voting no...what a farce.
Ok so I hear that Christoph Schubert is being peddled by Bryan Murray...wow what a big news story, too bad it's 2 months plus old. Back in November Murray tried to trade Schubert but nobody wanted him. They still don't.
I also hear now there is talk Murray wants to move Vermette...all of this after 'his guy' was never, ever going to be traded last season and signed for 2 million plus a year. Now that Vermette is on pace for 8 goals this year Murray has seen the errors of his ways. The problem...Vermette isn't worth anything and very few teams would take half of his salary for the rest of the season. It's going to take a deadline move or a package to deal him.
Then there is talk of simply waiving both players. Why bother. The Sens don't have enough players to fill those spots in 'Bingo. Quite frankly it could be said that Winchester and Zubov shouldn't be on the team.
Finally Owner Eugene Melnyk gave the kiss of death to Murray when he gave him the vote of confidence. The rumour was because Melnyk hugged Pat Quinn after Canada won gold, that Quinn was now in line for the Sens job behind the bench or upstairs. Also Bob Nicolson (Hockey Canada) has been mentioned for the GM role with the Sens. This all points to the fact that Bryan Murray is fired at the end of the season, at the latest. No question at all about it. It's a done deal, most likely even if the Senators turn it around and make the playoffs. As for Craig Hartsburg I believe he deserves to be kept around and I believe he will keep his job another season atleast.
