Veteran forward Brian Rolston could be one of the bodies on the move -- he has two years left on his deal at $5 million per season, and his cap hit this coming season is $5.062 million.
"It looks like they're going to be over the cap, so (roster moves) that's the only thing that makes sense," Rolston said to NJ.com on Monday afternoon. "I don't know what my involvement in that is going to be, but we'll see."
"I'm not concerned. It could happen, but it's just part of the business of hockey," he said. "Obviously someone is going to have to move."
Rolston isn't the only big-ticket Devil.
Left-winger Patrik Elias -- a Devil since breaking into the league in 1995-96 -- has three years left at $5 million per season. Elias's cap hit though is the largest after Kovalchuk at $6 million.
Also likely to get thrown into the rumor mill is center Travis Zajac (cap hit of $3.89 million this season), center Dainius Zubrus ($3.4 million in each of the next three seasons), and veteran defencemen Colin White ($3 million in each of the next two seasons) and Bruce Salvador ($2.9 million in each of the next two seasons).
