First off, i am no English major, so i apologize in advance for poor spelling and grammer. I can read through the CBA and figure out what i means, but cant write a 200 word blog without parts of it looking like it is Croatian...

With the draft days away, much talk has been made about what plans the Oilers have come Friday. Having lost their own 1st round pick(along with the others) the Oilers are left with the #22 pick in the 1st round. If a player like Joe Colburne is still available at the #22 spot, look for the Oilers to grab him. He is a huge, playmaking centre who has been seen as a poor mans Joe Thornton.

That said, if i were a betting man, i would look for the Oilers to move the pick, along with a roster player and possibly a prospect to move up in the draft. The Oilers would love to get into the top 8 and grab one of the highly touted players this year. Doubtful it happens, but KLowe will try.

Joni Pitkanen almost certainly wont be back with the Oilers next season. By most accounts, he is highly sout after, and the Oilers have little desire to pay him the $5mil per season he is currently asking for. Erik Cole has been mentioned as a possibility, but I would be surprised if he is the guy the Oilers go after. I would look to teams like Florida, Chicago, Ottawa, and Columbus as destinations for Joni.

Stoll will probably be back, and will probably be signing a 1 or 2 year deal at around a 2.8-3.2mil cap hit sometime in the first week to 10 days of July. The Stoll camp is probably going to hope for an offer sheet, but with Stolls play last season, it is doubtful a team offers Stoll an offer sheet that the Oilers dont match. And, if a team is foolish enough to offer something in the 4-5mil per season range, the Oilers will take the picks and run.

Friday should be an awesome day for hockey fans, hopefully KLowe and the crew stir something up in Ottawa.....

1) I doubt Colburne will be around at 22.2) I still think it's more than likely that Pitkanen will be around next year. Lowe was after him for a while. I can't see giving up on him after 1 season. 3) Cole is great but a UFA at the end of the season. A rebuilding team doesn't need a 1 year rental. 4) I agree about Stoll5) I don't think well see any Oiler moves untill draft day. I don't hink Lowe will trade for a pick unless he knows that the player he wants is still available.

i dont think it is so much lowe giving up on joni. would you pay joni 4-5mil per to keep him around? i would rather see that money go toward a forward....if you read the blog out loud with a german accent, it will make some sense....

Joni one year 4mil and I am okay. We need to see a full year from him. I hate that we are starting to look like the Leafs when it comes to high paid d-men, but Joni is young and is that puck moving d-man that we have coveted for years before Pronger was even here. I hate to see Lowe give him up, but at the sametime I can see why he could deal him

Good job MTMT...relevant information and good discussion topics. As I see it, no real need to apologize for grammar or spelling, as there are far worse skulking around on this site...
